Meet the Analyst – Karthik Sakthikanesan

meet the analyst hero

Title

Data Science Analyst

Hometown

I wouldn’t say I have a hometown. We moved around a lot. I think the longest I’ve stayed in one city was four years, for college. But I was born in Tirunelveli, India. For facts.

How long have you been with Net Conversion?

A year and half.

What clients do you work on?

I’m kind of all over, bouncing around wherever data science things are needed. Southeastern Grocers probably the most, they have a huge database.

Favorite moment at Net Con thus far?

My first Holiday party with the company in 2018. I had been with Net Con 6 months so was still pretty reserved, but at the party I actually spoke to people and got to know them and realized everyone is pretty cool.

What’s your philosophy toward working here?

Keep an open mind, there’s always more to learn.

What’s something we’d be surprised to learn about you?

I’m a bit of a horology (watches) nerd. I love knowing the different intricacies of craftsmanship, what makes watches different, and their histories.

Who do you admire most at Net Con that’s not on your team?

Tie between Rachel and Grant. I always respect someone who has a skill I don’t. Rachel does all this creative stuff – and consistently does it well – and that’s so not my thing at all. Grant also really knows his stuff; if I’m not sure about something with coding, I can go to him and know he’ll point me in the right direction.

What’s your favorite Net Con Perk?

Our YMCA memberships.

Favorite project you’ve done/proudest accomplishment?

Probably the Universal Studios Hollywood forecast model. Their team is able to allocate budget depending on its predictions, and the model adjusts based on those budget decisions and can be broken down by geos. It’s also fully automated because of Conversionomics.

What do you do when you’re not at work?

Dog. Motorcycle. Food.

What is your favorite thing to do in The City Beautiful?

It’s year-round motorcycle weather which means I can go for a ride whenever I want. There’s a great bar and food scene, and there are springs close by if I’m feeling outdoorsy. There’s so much to explore and I don’t think I’ve even scratched the surface.

Team Jet or Team Yacht?

Jet.

What mildly annoying curse do you wish you could use to curse people?

A back itch they can never reach.
