Meet the Analyst – Amanda Sumner

Name: Amanda Sumner

Title: Director of Marketing

How long have you been a camper here at Net Conversion?

Eight and a half years!

Tell us about your career journey with NC.

Oh geez, so when I first started here, Frank and Ryan weren’t 100% sure what they wanted me to do. I knew Brett from previous roles, and he recommended me to them. Frank and Ryan were the only people talking to partners at the time, but they wanted to scale the business, so I became an Account Manager and started talking directly with partners.

Amanda’s Title Timeline:

Account Manager – Director of Account Management – Director of Marketing

What is your favorite team memory?

Years ago, in our old office, around the holidays, we all did the mannequin challenge. We staged the whole office and practiced the setup. There were a lot of laughs that day.

What’s your team’s name and how would you describe them in one word?

My team’s name is Dream Team. Can I do two words ? The. Best.

What’s something you’ve learned about yourself while at NC?

Over the years, I’ve learned more about being a leader. Having a lot of different responsibilities and experiences allows me to wear many hats. This role has given me the opportunity to work with so many individuals in various stages of their careers and help them grow.

What originally sparked your interest in marketing?

So, my degree was in Communications; Radio TV. I wanted to be an actress and a broadcaster. I fell into marketing when I went to a career fair for credit in a PR class and got a marketing internship. That internship turned into a 3-year full-time job. That first job sparked an interest in working with partners and it’s the people piece for me that I really enjoy.

What’s one (or more) skill(s) you’d like to learn?

OOO, you know what I’d love to do – Aerial Acrobatics. You know, the acrobatics done while hanging from that fabric. That would be so cool; I’d love to do that. I really like performing.

What are the top three items on your bucket list?

1. I want to go to Europe and do EVERYTHING. Wine tasting in France, strolling in Spain, and exploring everything.

2. Take my son (Calvin) to California with the family.

3. I want to go to Japan and check out Tokyo Disney Sea.

What’s your favorite genre to read?

I like historical fiction – I find wartime historical fiction very interesting.

What is your proudest achievement?

It sounds cheesy, but I feel like my kid. Calvin is super cool, and I’m in awe of him every day. He plays soccer and is a black belt in Taekwondo.

What is your superpower?

I think making people smile is my superpower. I feel like I have a way of putting a spin on negative situations.

What three things would you do if you were invisible?

1. Sneak into a zoo and see the animals up close.

2. Sneak into a theme park when it’s closed.

3. Sneak on to an international flight and fly to Europe.

What’s your favorite food?

A really great steak, medium rare, with a glass of red wine. I’m open to any type of deep red wine as long as it’s with a good steak.

What are you grateful for every morning?

My family, they’re what’s most important to me.

Any last words/thoughts?

I would say be a light. There’s enough craziness out there; just try to bring a smile and positive outlook every day.
